DR. BART LARDNERProfessor

Doctor of Philosophy
Dr. H.A. (Bart) Lardner received his MSc (1993) and PhD (1998) degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Lardner has been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science at University of Saskatchewan and a Research Scientist with Western Beef Development Centre for over 20 years where his research has focused on cow-calf management and forage and grazing research. His established research program has secured research grants totaling over $10 Million since 2002 and involves projects on water quality, pasture rejuvenation, novel annual and perennial forage species, extensive winter grazing systems, nutrient cycling management in cow-calf system, heifer development and application of genomic technology in breeding systems.

Forage Extension Specialist at Agriculture and Forestry

Alberta Agriculture, and Forestry Forage roles related to grazing, economics and systems thinking that are environmentally regenerative, allow people to have a high quality of life, are financially sound, and create stronger agriculture communities, to create a viable, more risk averse agriculture sector in Alberta that captures new photosynthesis to offset harvest and export of old(coal, oil, gas)/new(green plants over long seasons of growth) photosynthesis for all Albertans benefit.

Dr. MARK REDMOND, CEO, RDAR

With a PhD in infectious diseases, Mark has experience as a scientific researcher, inventor and innovator, senior health system administrator, education leader and entrepreneur. A significant portion of Mark’s professional career has also been spent adding value to agriculture products. He has served as the Director of the Emergence Incubator at PEI BioAlliance, Associate Dean of NAIT’s School of Health and Life Sciences, and Executive Director of the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine. Mark is an asset to our leadership team with his diverse skill set, and he looks forward to leading RDAR as Alberta reorganizes producer-led agricultural research from the ground up.
